Academic Search Complete general package is one of the most valuable and comprehensive multidiscipline scientific database worldwide. It is possible to browse from more than 8500 full-text periodicals and more than 7300 peer-reviewed journals. You can download the materials freely if you have a library card at Budapest Metropolitan University.

GALE Info Trac Collections – Business Economics and Theory package

DOAB - Directory of Open Access Books

This is an initiative supervised by the National Library in the Hague. The database is free of charge. It is a collection of non-fiction, full-length books that you can reach with adequate citation under Creative-Commons licence. The database contains several topics including art, business, economics, linguistics, law, social sciences and technology.

Doaj – Directory of Open Access Journals

This is a free collection of journals, full-text articles, studies on human and real sciences collected internationally. All articles and journals are peer-reviewed and their content is proved as professional. Besides English, some of the articles are in Hungarian, French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.

Econbiz

It is a joint project of German National Library of Economics and the University and City Library of Cologne. It includes important German and international databases for economics and business studies. It provides access to about one million full texts for free of charge. It is available both in German and English.

Archive

There are archive forms of web pages from 1996 (including films, videos, images, texts and music). It is supported by Google Chrome and Internet Explorer web browsers. Users can upload their own materials and download others’ including full-length films, from old films to the most recent news, cartoons, concerts, fiction, children’s book and history collections. There is also audio and mp3 material available, such as more than 200 digital records can be downloaded including alternative music and Old Time radio programmes. Most of the links offer free downloads.

Artfacts

This is an international online database of galleries and museums. You can search for artists by their names, exhibitions according to countries, cities or galleries. The webpage also includes articles on art. The browser gives you the most recent and open exhibitions.

GoogleArtProjekt

It contains more than 30,000 works of art in a digital version from more than 150 museums worldwide including the Hungarian Museum of Fine Arts and National Gallery. You can take a virtual walk in 46 foreign museums and this number is expected to increase. Visitors can comment on paintings, create their own collections and can share them with others. There are paintings and sculptures placed in this Google global virtual museum, together with specialities such as Brazilian street graffiti, aboriginal African pictographs and Islamic applied arts. You can search for artists, works of art, museums, countries, collections or different times on the same page.

Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci

This is an online catalogue of Science and Technological Museum named after Leonardo Da Vinci, where you can find more than 15,000 historically important artifacts such as Baroque globes, cash machines from the 1800’s and paintings. The page is available in both English and Italian.

Web Gallery of Arts

This is a virtual museum and a database. It contains European paintings and sculptures from the 11th century to the middle of the 19thcentury. It also contains Hungarian artists. There are short resumes connected to each artist, you can have a look at their work and read about the most important facts. While browsing, you can listen to music from that age, and you can also search for the music. It also contains an option for sending postcards for free of charge.
