Budapest Metropolitan University turned 20 years old! With this series, we would like to honor the events and amazing memories of these past two decades by looking back at stories of our students, alumni, professors and staff members who have been with us on this journey. 

Meet Deniz Alak, sophomore year student of our Animation BA program.

 

What is the most important lesson METU has taught you? 

The biggest moral METU has taught me is that I should push myself even more than I think - with my projects, works and ideas. Thanks to this, I found out that I could do much more than I thought. 

What's your first memory of METU? 

My first memory of METU is when I was searching for universities to study abroad at. My mom and I found it and I immediately decided to prepare my portfolio for METU. 

Tell us about a significant experience (the kindest, funniest, most exciting or most important) connected to the university! 

To me the kindest and best memories I have connected to the university are those with the amazing friends I gained thanks to METU. Even though we couldn’t be together in person, we were always together. I can’t wait to see them and my school in real life this year. 

What do you think lies behind the success of METU? 

 To me the biggest success of METU is that it provides its students a safe place where they can be their genuine selves, while they can pursue their dreams. And of course, all the doors it opens to you for your future plans, while being able to study with people from so many different cultures, inspiring classes leaded by knowledgeable professors. 

Where do you see METU in 5-10 years? 

I see the future of METU even more crowded with hardworking people who love what they do. And many students with tenacity to go after their goal
