Budapest Metropolitan University to Continue Developing Under Hungarian Ownership
China-CEE Fund I, advised by CEE EquityPartners, has agreed to sell Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) to Central Europe Alfa Asset Management Ltd with its sole investor being Optima Investments Ltd. Optima will support METU in its strategy to further develop as an internationally recognized higher education institution.
Optima has agreed to acquire 100% of METU in an international sale process attracting interest from European and Asian, financial and strategic, bidders. Closing of the transaction is expected next week.

Budapest Metropolitan University, the largest privately-owned university in Hungary, has been focusing on developing its courses, improving student satisfaction (including the willingness to recommend the institution to peers). Over 1,000 foreign students attend the institution where students can choose from over 30 popular programs. The institution’s operations will continue to be led by President & CEO Dr. Ágnes Tóth and Rector Dr. BálintBachmann.
