Starting university in February: why apply to cross-semester courses?
Cross-semester courses and application – why start university in February?
The beginning of the academic year in September is not the only time you can start your studies. You can also enroll to university at the beginning of the second semester in February – and in many cases, this can even be a better option for you!
But what are cross-semester courses like? Who is it worth for? What does the application process look like?
Here you can find all the information and details you need to know.
What is the difference between regular and cross-semester university courses?
The curriculum and timetables of cross-semester courses do not differ from that of regular courses.
The length of the programs, the requirements and the modules are the same for both students starting their studies in September and in February. This means you will receive the same education, and you will probably also share modules with ‘regular’ students.
The only difference is the list of available courses you can apply to, as universities offer fewer courses in cross-semester. The selection for bachelor’s courses is usually much more limited, however, the available options for master’s students is almost the same as for courses starting in September.
Read on to find out what courses you can apply to in the cross-semester of the 2021/22 academic year!
Cross-semester application – is it worth for me?
You will receive no less from a cross-semester course than from a ‘regular’ one, so if you’re interested in starting your studies, there’s no point in waiting.
The first step of your university application should be researching the available courses and finding those most suitable for you. Attending open days is always a great opportunity to explore your options, to ask your questions and get to know the university. Make sure to check out the dates of online or live open days of the university, and don’t forget to register to be able to participate.
If you have already decided on your major and found the right course for you, all you have to do is find out whether these are available in the cross-semester application period.
Cross-semester application can be a great option for you if you:
- missed the regular and extended application deadlines, but would like to start your studies soon
- want to change your major or university, because you feel like your current course is not right for you
- finishing your bachelor’s studies in cross-semester and would like to continue on master’s level
